AI Image Retouching & Alterations
With recent advancements in artificial intelligence, photo processing that once was prohibitively expensive and time consuming can now be achieved more quickly often with better results. By using AI with our image retouching and alteration needs, we have found the following benefits:
Photo Realistic Night From Day Image Generation
Harsh Shadow Removal From Daytime Images
Seamless Panoramic Creation From Photo Collage
Season & Weather Changes
Historically Accurate Backgrounds
Faster Turnarounds While Still Staying within Budget
Case Studies
Of course, one can always claim to be using AI to produce better results, but the proof is always in the eating, or seeing, so to speak. As such, below are a couple case studies showing how we have used AI for recent projects.
Creating Quality AI Imagery
We have found the best way to create great looking AI imagery is to start with great looking images and a well developed vision. Haphazardly using AI to generate images from prompts only without real world experience always end in slop. In order to keep our quality at or above par, below are the real steps we employ when working with AI.
Obtain real world photographs captured by us or supplied by our clients
Create a vision of what the end image should look taking cues from art directors, cinematographers, and our 20 years experience photographing the built environment.
Translating this vision into precise and clear prompts before processing the photographs through an AI engine.
Utilizing conventional editing tools combined our experience in architectural & landscape photography to create the final image.
Concerns Around AI Usage
There are a few warranted concerns with AI use, namely infringement, copyright-ability and job destruction. Given we are always starting with a real photograph and we can identify the provenience/copyright holder (usually us but occasionally our clients), there is no liability arising from infringement. Likewise, since we are generating a derivative from an existing image(s) with minor changes to the original plus additional human work required after the AI editing, it is our opinion the final photograph is copyrightable. Last, our use of AI has not decreased our work force, merely made the image production more efficient with higher quality of output.
