At Precision Backdrops, for custom backings, we require four to eight weeks from date of photography, depending on the size and filming location, to ensure our drops get to your set on time for filming.  For your information, below is an outline of our estimated time frames for a standard Day|Night backing.    

Once the location for the photography has been secured, the photographer will need one full day on location for each backdrop.  After this, the photographer will need one or two additional days for basic color correction and creating the panorama before moving onto editing.

Editing is an essential part of even basic backings to ensure the backdrops match color and scale for the set, parallax is correct, matching day and night images, and removing ancillary items that do not appear in both versions to ensure flawless day to night transitions.  This takes five to eight business days to complete.

Printing a Day|Night translight is a complicated process that requires multiple layers of ink to print, plus time to off gas, seam, edge and finalize.  To ensure a flawless drop, we will need three to ten business days of production on the physical backdrop, depending on the print dimensions.

Overnight Shipping, for backings less than 100 pounds, can be utilized for anywhere in the country. Backings between 100 and 150 pounds can be sent via UPS or FedEx ground, taking 3 business days. All backings over 150 pounds must be shipped via freight, which takes three to five calendar days. (Our backings weight approximately an ounce per square foot. To estimate weight in pounds, divide the total area by 16.)

Additional Measures

The above timeline assumes that a location has already been secured and only standard post production is required for the artwork.  Although we are fine with finding a location for you, this will add additional time, and cost, onto the production.  Likewise, any post production beyond the standard, such as removal of multiple items (cars, trees, etc.) or changing of the seasons, will require additional time and fees.
